Emma Kunz

Emma Kunz (1892-1963) fascinates.

She worked as a researcher and naturopath and was attracted by invisible forces. An important working tool was the pendulum. She used it for medical and artistic purposes. In 1941 she found rock with healing powers in Würenlos. She called it AION A, among other things it is said to have cured polio. In Würenlos she founded her stone works. Today, the Emma Kunz Foundation is located here. Its aim is to preserve her pictorial work. Kunz never saw herself as an artist. Nevertheless, this part of her work has met and continues to meet with lively interest. It was presented to the public for the first time in 1973 at the Kunsthaus Aarau under the title “The Case of Emma Kunz”. Further exhibitions followed, among others in Düsseldorf and Paris. Kunz was born in Brittnau, a neighboring village of Zofingen.

We are all the more pleased to be able to offer a drawing from her work for sale. Drawn in colored pencil on graph paper, it bears the unmistakable signature of Emma Kunz and, measuring 110 x 105 centimeters, is one of her larger drawings. It served as the cover of the 1953 self-published book “The Miracle of Creative Revelation.”
