Prints
Prints from Old Master sheets to the modern era: woodcut, engraving, etching, lithograph and screenprint, from the single sheet to the complete portfolio. We identify technique, edition and condition and tell you what your sheet is worth on the market.
The first mass medium of art
Prints were the first mass medium of art: they brought pictures from churches and palaces into middle-class parlours and allowed artists experiments that would have been too expensive on canvas. A woodcut by Vallotton, a screenprint by Warhol or an etching by Picasso is therefore not a reproduction but an original work issued in an edition. What a sheet is worth is decided by edition, signature, state and condition, and by whether it is listed in the catalogue raisonné. We check that before we estimate. Our results show the range: Félix Vallotton’s 1898 woodcut series «Intimités» fetched CHF 320,000 at the Spring Auction 2026, Andy Warhol’s screenprint «Mick Jagger» CHF 65,000, and Picasso’s etchings for Balzac’s «Le Chef-d’œuvre inconnu», published by Vollard in 1931, CHF 32,000.
