Swiss Art
From Anker to Hodler, from the Geneva school to the present day: Swiss art is one of the core fields of our house. The Valais school, Vallotton’s landscapes and woodcuts, Emma Kunz and Appenzell folk painting all find their audience with us. For Swiss art, collectors and institutions from all over Switzerland look to Zofingen.
From Hodler to Tinguely
Few countries have produced so much that is contradictory in so short a time: Hodler’s parallelism, Zurich Dada of 1916, the mathematical rigour of the Zurich Concrete artists around Max Bill, and Tinguely’s rattling machines. That range is reflected in what is consigned to us: the Valais school around Ernest Biéler and François de Ribaupierre, Félix Vallotton’s landscapes and woodcuts, the Central Swiss landscapes of Robert Zünd, Alois Carigiet, the energy pictures of Emma Kunz from Würenlos, Appenzell folk painting. Our results show that there is a market for it: Biéler’s «L’Homme à la Pipe» for CHF 350,000, Vallotton’s 1898 portfolio «Intimités» for CHF 320,000 at the Spring Auction 2026, a sheet by Emma Kunz for CHF 75,000 at the Autumn Auction 2021. Whoever consigns Swiss art to us meets an audience that knows these names and is looking for them.
